A Veteran’s Day Of Gratitude & Action
Let's come together to show our sincere appreciation for the brave men and women who have served our country in Richmond, Virginia. Veterans Day is a special day to honor their sacrifices and support our military families.
Here are some ways we can make a difference together:
Create heartfelt thank you cards and letters: Let's show our kids the importance of gratitude by crafting heartfelt messages for veterans. You can collect these and deliver them to local VA hospitals or nursing homes.
Design personalized placemats: Get creative and design colorful placemats filled with messages of thanks and support for veterans. These can brighten up mealtimes at local VA hospitals like Richmond VA Medical Center.
Volunteer at a veterans' organization: Give back to the community by volunteering your time at a local veterans' organization. There are countless ways to help, from providing companionship to assisting with administrative tasks.
Attend local Veterans Day events: Let’s come together as a community to celebrate our veterans. Many local organizations host events, parades, and ceremonies such as the annual Virginia War Memorial Ceremony. Local schools typically have assemblies as well for the students. Wreaths Across America is typically held at Seven Pines National Cemetery during the month of December to remember and honor our veterans through the laying of Remembrance Wreaths on the graves of our country's fallen heroes and the act of saying the name of each and every veteran aloud.
Let's make this Veterans Day a day filled with gratitude, support, and community.
